Glue!

Mast continued

A bit of planing today (one of my favourite activities), and now the mast is ready for glue. 

Gluing centreboard case

Garage door open half past eleven in the evening. Cutting and gluing wood. Swedish summer at its very best. 

Foils continued

After a another long brake I brought the foils to the family summerhouse. Managed to apply SEK 300 (€30) of epoxy light fairing compound on it an then remove almost all of it with the random orbital sander. Now they are ready for glass and epoxy. 

We have a rudder!

The rudder is now shaped and is awaiting some fairing and then fibreglass and epoxy together with the centreboard. 

Rudder under construction

Two hours of work with my number 4 and I have a 22mm thick blank that is slowly taking the shape if a rudder. 

Test of glue joins

It's always a good idea to test how well your glue holds up (i.e read the manual and discover you've glued together things that's not meant to be together at all). 

All seems well, the glue holds up well, and a couple of minutes with a pull saw and a chisel have the part looking as it is supposed to
