Some more hardware

Learnt about a company in town which dismantle old boats for recycling. Sorted through some of their boxes and found a number of blocks as well as an aluminium track that I might use at the outhaul. Paid SEK 200 (€20) for the lot.

Lots of small wooden blocks..

Sanded most of the distance blocks needed for the inwale by hand and pre-drilled holes for fasteners. Then glued port side spacers, port gunwale cap, a small strip of oak at the bow, and for luck scarfed some strips of ply that eventually will become the sides of my box boom. 

Used screws for the spacers and almost every clamp I could find for the gunwale cap. 

Gunwale cap

Bought two boards of oak, ripped them in half. Scarfed them. Now I have two long pieces of oak to cap the gunwale with. Got a bit of glue left, so I added a cap of ply to the centreboard case. It will look a bit nicer I think. 

Bargain (sort of)

Took eldest son to the annual boat exhibition. As predicted lots of big expensive motorboats (which Harry liked) and as hoped some blocks at 70% discount. A ronstan orbit 55mm ratchet block, a 30 mm ball bearing triple block with cam cleat, and a standard double block for SEK 500 ($70 or so). Also found 83m 2mm dyneema line for SEK100 which must be a good price.
