Thole pins installed

Still have to cut the pins to length, but already very happy about how it looks. Would have liked the pins to be 2-3 mm thicker, but there is not enough gunwale for that. It will be fine I'm sure. 

V-day (varnish day) is approaching!

Got epoxy on the gunwale. Now it's scraping and sanding and after that as many coats of varnish I have patience for (at least 2-3)

Glassing the foils

I don't like fibreglass. Messy and it sucks epoxy like sponge. Had to be done though...

Got help turning the boat right side up, and put it on its trailer. Feels really good!

In lack of good looking oar locks..

I have decided on thole pins. I like rowing with them and they look good. Have cut and split a hefty piece of juniper I had laying around (the traditional wood for thole pins in my part of the world). 

After some work by my ice cream powered task force...

Some fitting left for when I have drilled the holes in the gunwale (with an added oak cap).
